This year Crowngate’s nominated charity is Wooden Spoon – The children’s charity of rugby.


charity-wooden-spoon-projects-2-600x360Wooden Spoon was founded in 1983 and since then they have been making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Supported by their volunteer committees and their great fundraising ideas, they make sure that all the money raised stays in the local community to fund local projects.

Wooden Spoon is one of the largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory enhancement therapeutic facilities, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas, and community-based programs in the UK. So far, they have granted over £20 million to these fantastic projects. Inspired by their rugby heritage, their values of passionintegrityteamwork, and fun have so far helped over 1 million young people and children in need.

With the generous team spirit of the rugby community and the help of its top sporting heroes, their projects truly make a difference. They are very excited about their ambitious plans for the future, too!

The Worcestershire Spoon team is committed to raising money that will make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Their core objectives are not only to raise money but to build awareness amongst the business and local community; promoting the good work that Wooden Spoon delivers locally in partnership with key partners like Worcester Warriors Rugby Club.
