New name for Food Quarter

As Worcester celebrates all things food related this week, there couldn’t be a more fitting time to introduce the new name for the food quarter at Crowngate, than during the Worcester Foodie Festival from Friday 4th August until Sunday 6th August.

Crowngate Kitchen is THE eat and enjoy experience in the heart of Worcester City, offering a tranquil environment for you to find your own dining and time out from the hustle and bustle. Just chill out, try new food with friends and family, listen to some great music, and add a cocktail if that’s your thing!

From 11am over the 3-day festival, Crowngate will host a variety of free activities and entertainment for all to enjoy; from street entertainers, face painting and magicians to live music and DJ sets into the evenings, as well as some fantastic offers from Crowngate Kitchen cafes and restaurants.

Enjoy samples and goodies from the Crowngate Kitchen eateries, including Bill’s, Carluccio’s, GBK, Wildwood and Coffee Dough, plus Boston Tea Party, Café at Debenhams and Café Zest at House of Fraser. View sample menus and grab some exclusive offers and discounts including free drinks, 2-4-1 and free cocktail vouchers! You can see the full list of foodie offers here!

For all those budding chefs out there head to the Kids Cookery Workshops, outside House of Fraser. There’s the opportunity to experiment and play, while learning how to combine basic ingredients to create delicious bakes of rainbow biscuits, vegetable cupcakes and savoury scones. Or for the little ones who just like to get their hands dirty, join in the food lab sessions to create jelly explosions, fizzy mocktails and edible slime!

For the more creative amongst us, check out Kids Create at Crowngate – free craft workshops running every Saturday and Sunday, until the end of August. During the festival, it’s edible art, where you can enjoy decorating pre-made fairycakes. Drop in to the Kids Create shop, by House of Fraser and Rise in Chapel Walk between 11am-4pm.

If you’re looking to chill out, relax and take a break from life; enjoy great food with friends or a special someone, while listening to some live music in Crowngate Kitchen. On Friday Jack Crowe will be performing upbeat, quirky acoustic sounds from 11am to 3pm, with Doc Brown Music playing select pop, rock, blues and country covers between 5pm and 7pm, finishing the evening with DJ Ed Steelefox playing soul and funk sets between 7pm and 11pm. On Saturday, you can immerse yourself in the laidback, soulful sounds of Poppy Waterman-Smith from 7pm until 9pm. On Sunday, it’s local favourite Jamie Knight providing the tunes from 1pm until 5pm.  The party definitely starts in the kitchen!

There will be a Crowngate Kitchen stand by the entrance to Chapel Walk on the high street, so come along and have a chat with us! Find out about the fantastic eateries within Crowngate Kitchen and sample some of their tasty treats. We’ll also be speaking to you about 25 years of Crowngate in the city, encouraging you to share your memories with us. Plus we’ll be recruiting local music artists for our forthcoming ‘Busk Stop’ initiative, where we introduce specific busking areas to the centre, inviting selected local talent to perform for shoppers and diners.
